Sweet Pea is an online platform that provides educational resources and tools to build a financial plan that helps secure 100% of funding for adoption and fertility treatment – be it IVF, egg freezing, IUI, or one of the many other treatments available.
The journey to launching this platform started not unlike the 10 million other women in the United States who have difficulty getting pregnant or carrying to term.
It all started with a trip to the Emergency Room several years ago, on the 4th of July. Shortly after, LaKesha and her husband learned that building their family would be much more involved than imagined. For those who have received similar news, LaKesha understands the stress, the overwhelming feelings, and the sense of hopelessness brought on by fertility challenges. She didn’t understand all the costs associated with the surgeries, procedures, injections, and labs required for her to conceive.
Although $8 billion is spent on fertility care, only 10% of those needing treatment receive it. This means that 90% of those requiring fertility treatment do not seek it. Fertility treatment is expensive and most states don’t require insurance coverage. In addition, families pursuing adoption face costs of up to $45k or more. As a result, many give up the dream to have children.
The mission behind Sweet Pea is to guide individuals and families – like LaKesha’s – who find themselves overwhelmed and relentlessly searching for financial options to grow their families.
