Spring Woodlands Tennis Academy

Spring Woodlands Tennis Academy was founded by Ken Olivier. Ken is a national collegiate champion tennis player with experience on the professional tour. Ken received his masters degree in exercise science and studied the best ways to help tennis players improve. His core subjects included exercise physiology, biomechanics, motor control, motor learning and nutrition. He was involved in testing collegiate tennis players speed and endurance in a laboratory and presented his findings at a USTA Sports Science Symposium. Ken finished collegiate tennis ranked #1 in the nation in singles and doubles and led his team to their first national title in the history of the school. He received All American status and was on the Rolex Collegiate All Star team at The US Open.

We have two facilities where we offer tennis training. Both facilities have six tennis courts, storage, bathrooms, parking and a clubhouse. Both facilities have lights as well. Exit off of 99 is Gosling to reach Northampton facility and Spring Creek Forest off of Louetta near Klein High School. Our program is designed top teach tennis players how to play and compete correctly. We work with beginner thru advanced players on technique, mental toughness, strategy and fitness. We focus on all the variables that help to make tennis players great.

We offer both group and private tennis training sessions along with tournament play. We also have lot’s of players that play high school tennis and middle school tennis. These kids are working hard trying to become state champions and get tennis scholarships in college. We offer UTR tournaments which are official ranking tournaments to help our kids improve. Many of our players also play USTA tournaments to improve their positions. We also offer the best technology on the market in tracking progress. We have the Tennis Locker App which allows all of our players and coaches to communicate with each other consistently to make sure goals are being met.

Our physical training includes endurance, weight lifting and speed agility and quickness. We do lots of running and stretching to improve movement and flexibility. We take pride in teaching people correctly! We have several good tennis pros that are patient and experienced in all areas of the game. Most of our tournament players practice between 15-20 hours per week. That includes their group training, private lessons, match and tournament play. We recommend that technique be pretty good before spending too many hours training because you don’t want to reinforce bad habits. It usually takes 2-3 years to improve technique enough where additional training will really help get to the next level.

Our Red Raiders class is for beginner kids ages 5-10yr old. Our Green Machine class is for intermediate players between the ages of 10-15yr old and our Challenger program is for our tournament players! All programs are offered six days a week but you must register before signing up. We also have a pro shop and offer rackets, stringing and grips for those interested at a fair price.

Our main purpose is to help tennis players reach the highest levels of the game. This includes, junior high school, USTA tournaments, UTR tournaments ands collegiate level competition. We welcome everyone to come train with us to improve their games.
