Metcalfe Real Estate has a rich history dating back to its founding in 1927 as E Dixon and Co. Limited, a company specialising in the retail and repair of musical instruments. In 1950, the late George Ranford acquired the company, integrating real estate and valuation services. Under his leadership, the business grew, and in 1984, Selwyn Metcalfe joined as Manager before acquiring full ownership later that year.

In 2020, Scott Roberts, a real estate professional with strong family ties to the company, became a director/shareholder, rebranding the company as Metcalfe Real Estate. By 2022, Scott had taken on the role of sole director, guiding the company into a new era while maintaining its core values of trust, innovation, and excellence.
