Reykjavík Bear, also known as RVKBear, originated from the Bears on Ice festival, beginning in 2019 as a non-profit dedicated to fostering a supportive bear community in Iceland. Celebrating both its fifth anniversary and the 20th anniversary of the Bears on Ice this year, the festival has expanded significantly, now hosting over 120 international attendees. Named among the best bear events by Bear World Magazine in 2024, RVKBear provides unique experiences in Iceland, including visits to geothermal lagoons and engaging social events. New in 2025 is the introduction of Mr. Reykjavík Bear. The festival emphasizes safety, even adjusting plans due to localized volcanic activity, ensuring a safe and memorable experience for all participants.
