Radical Relationship Transformation
At Radical Relationship Transformation, we help couples rebuild connection when their relationship feels stuck, distant, painful, or close to falling apart.
Unlike a general counseling practice serving a wide range of needs, our work is focused almost exclusively on relationships. We believe couples facing serious challenges deserve a relationship specialist who understands the patterns that create conflict, distance, and disconnection.
Our founder, Shira Hearn, is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who has dedicated her career to helping relationships heal. Originally from Jerusalem, Israel, Shira lived in Los Angeles for more than a decade before relocating to Southwest Missouri. She earned her master’s degree in Marital and Family Therapy from Fuller Theological Seminary and has completed extensive training in Emotionally Focused Therapy, commonly known as EFT.
Many couples wait months or even years before seeking help. During that time, conversations can become repetitive, arguments more predictable, and emotional distance increasingly difficult to overcome. Partners may begin to feel alone even while sharing the same home.
Our work helps couples identify the cycle keeping them stuck and develop a healthier pattern of trust, safety, and emotional connection. We do not believe couples should spend session after session discussing the same problems without a clear direction. Each session has a purpose, and every intervention is designed to move the relationship toward meaningful change.
We regularly help couples experiencing:
- Chronic conflict and recurring arguments
- Emotional distance and disconnection
- Infidelity and broken trust
- Intimacy and sexual concerns
- Parenting stress
- Blended-family challenges
- ADHD- or autism-related relationship difficulties
- Communication breakdowns
- Years of unresolved hurt
- Uncertainty about whether the relationship can survive
Many clients appreciate our direct, genuine, and practical approach. We do not rely on generic advice or surface-level communication tips. Instead, we help couples understand what is happening beneath patterns of criticism, defensiveness, withdrawal, shutdown, and conflict.
Our approach is grounded in attachment science and decades of relationship research. Many disagreements are not really about dishes, finances, parenting, sex, or schedules. Beneath the surface are often deeper questions:
“Do I matter to you?”
“Can I count on you?”
“Will you be there when I need you?”
When partners no longer feel secure in the answers to those questions, even small disagreements can become painful and difficult to resolve. Therapy creates an opportunity to uncover those deeper fears, needs, and longings so couples can begin responding to one another differently.
We also provide longer sessions than many traditional therapy practices. Difficult relationship conversations cannot always be meaningfully addressed within a brief appointment. Longer sessions give couples the time and space to move beyond surface-level discussions and address the emotional patterns at the heart of their relationship.
Emotionally Focused Therapy is one of the most extensively researched approaches to couples therapy. We are committed to using evidence-based methods supported by research rather than relying on trends, generic exercises, or personal opinion.
Our office is located in Southwest Missouri, and we serve couples throughout the Four States region, including Joplin, Webb City, Carthage, Neosho, Carl Junction, Pittsburg, Galena, Miami, and surrounding communities. Many couples travel from outside the immediate area because they are looking for a therapist whose practice is dedicated specifically to relationships.
At the heart of our work is a simple belief: relationships can heal.
Even couples who feel hopeless may have more potential for recovery than they realize. When partners begin to understand the fears, hurts, and longings beneath their conflict, new conversations become possible. Defenses soften, trust can begin to rebuild, and emotional connection becomes easier.
Our goal is not simply to help couples argue less. It is to help them create a relationship that feels safe, secure, connected, and deeply meaningful.
Radical Relationship Transformation helps couples move from merely surviving together to truly being together again.
