Prolateral was established in 2005 by Ian Chilvers and Craig Fisher, both of whom bring over 30 years of experience each in the technology and internet service provision sectors. With backgrounds in telecoms and mobile microwave telecommunications, they bring a deep and broad understanding of infrastructure, reliability, and messaging technologies. This technical foundation has allowed Prolateral to develop robust, scalable, and secure services tailored to the evolving needs of both businesses and channel partners.
Prolateral isn’t just another email service provider. We build, manage, and support all our services in-house, with a strong focus on quality, security-by-design, reliability, and performance. Our offerings include a suite of tools designed to support business critical communications, whether you’re an end-user, SME, larger company or a reseller partner.
Through our Channel Partner Programme, we enable resellers and service providers to offer our full range of services under their own branding. The white-labelled portal makes it easy to manage client accounts, provision services, and deliver high quality solutions without the cost, technical overhead, or complexity of developing and maintaining the infrastructure themselves. Many of our partners appreciate that they can get up and running quickly while maintaining complete control of their customer relationships and branding.
Our core products include:
– outMail : A secure, authenticated and high-performance outbound email relay service, suitable for transactional and high-volume email sending.
– proFilter: Our advanced email spam and virus filtering platform, designed to keep inboxes clean and threats at bay.
– backupMX: A backup SMTP mail server that ensures business continuity during primary mail server outages or connectivity issues.
– fakeMX: An additional layer of email defence – a decoy mail exchange that misleads and traps spam bots.
– proEmail: Our hosted email server platform, launched in 2025, which provides email, calendars, and contacts with support for all major email clients and Microsoft ActiveSync for full Outlook integration.
In addition to messaging, we offer several complementary services:
– masterDNS: Primary DNS services for domain resolution.
– backupDNS: Geographically distributed secondary DNS services, offering resilience and redundancy.
– webHosting: Various hosting options for PHP and MySQL-based websites, built on the Plesk control panel and hosted on our own cloud infrastructure.
All of these services, with the exception of webHosting, have been developed in-house, giving us full control over the user experience, backend performance, and overall security. We’ve developed our own tools and systems, ensuring they’re tightly integrated, well-supported, and adaptable to customer needs.
With proEmail, our goal was to offer a truly unified and secure hosted email solution. Every proEmail subscription includes our proFilter, backupMX, and fakeMX services at no extra cost. The result is a robust, secure, and fully managed email environment that doesn’t require bolt-on protection or third-party add-ons. Everything is integrated, maintained by our team, and backed by our UK-based support team.
