Prepper Nerd

The concept for Prepper Nerd began in mid-2020, after its founder (Mike) had been prepping for about a year and had a need to get his preps better organized. He started with MS Excel, but it didn’t have all the features he was looking for, so he tried other options including Google Sheets. Eventually, Mike decided to build his prepper inventory system using Smartsheet, a platform that he had significant experience with from his professional career.

After building his own prepper inventory system, he was so happy with it, and he realized what a stress relief it was for his prepping efforts, so he wanted to share his approach with others. He received incredibly positive feedback from YouTube influencers who he’d shared his prep organization system with. Their feedback was that this tool would be a huge help for the prepping community. So, Prepper Nerd began giving his prepping inventory system away to people in the prepper community.

The response was amazing! People were LOVING the prepper inventory system that Mike had created and were especially happy with the support he was offering to help them get up and running – for free! Eventually, in the beginning of 2021, Mike realized that his costs with Smartsheet were about to go WAY up, and the only way to continue supporting more people organize their preps was to look at this endeavor as a business rather than a ministry. His mission was the same, and in order to reach as many people as possible, he needed to turn his system into a product. His first paying customer was on 1/18/21, and the customer was even more excited than Mike was!

Over the course of 2021, the prepper inventory system went through many iterations, with regular enhancements based on community input and requests.

Enhancements included:
• Barcode scanning capabilities for both food preps and supplies & equipment
• Tracking food preps compared to weight goals
• Prep skills self-assessment tool
• Prep shopping list tool
• Insurance and warranties tracker
• And more!

In the second half of 2021, he released a free service on his website (http://prepper-nerd.com) that monitors pricing on thousands of products relevant to prepping and displays a visual indication of how good (or bad) the current price is. This helps preppers focus their money on buying their preps as cost efficiently as possible. This service is called Prepper Deals and is planned to be updated and re-released in late 2022.

After realizing that his “prep inventory system” could really be something that helps thousands of people, Prepper Nerd finally gave the service a name: the Ultimate Prep System. With the help of YouTube influencers spreading the word, Prepper Nerd had set up over 600 people with their own Ultimate Prep System within the year of 2021.

In 2022, his focus has shifted a bit. Throughout this time of offering the online prep inventory system, a common concern raised by people has been that they either 1) didn’t want their information online at all (OpSec), or 2) they wanted their system to be fully intact even if the internet was down. Essentially, they wanted and OFFLINE version of the Ultimate Prep System.

So, Prepper Nerd delivered! In May 2022, he began offering the OFFLINE Ultimate Prep System for pre-sale, with an expected release date of 8/1/22. His goal is the same with the offline version, which is simply to help as many people as possible get prepped and be organized with their preps. And now with the OFFLINE version, he can help a whole new group of preppers with the best prep inventory software available.
