Origin Colombia was founded by Claudia Hernandez, a nomad who feels very proud of representing her Colombian culture and traditions wherever she goes.

Origin Colombia was born with the idea to support the Wayuu women artisans from La Guajira, Colombia through selling their handmade crochet bags called “Wayuu bags.”
Claudia’s commitment to help the Wayuu community started 20 years ago when she was living in Asia. The idea started by changing the image of Colombia around the world by showcasing the stunning products made in Colombia by artisans and from that her commitment to the Wayuu tribe was her main goal. Today, Claudia resides in Canada and Origin Colombia was created.
The Wayuu community lives in incredible poverty, lack of clean water, food and medical assistance. The only source of income for the Wayuu tribe is by selling their products.
Each bag is handwoven by a single woman using her creativity and decades of experience taught by their ancestors applying ancient crochet techniques.
Origin Colombia offers one of a kind designs crafted exclusively by expert artisans creating an equilibrium of colors that evokes the tribe’s daily experiences. Each bag could take between 8 to 15 days to be finished depending on the grade of difficulty.
Every Origin Colombia collection are handmade with love and ethically produced, providing to their artisans with fair trade practices that give dignity and recognition to the Wayuu tribe.
