No Roads Expeditions

From the very beginning, No Roads has been passionate about remote nature-based travel. We are obsessed with high mountains and remote rivers and islands. The further away from civilization the better. All of our expeditions are guided by expert leaders who are a mix of motivator, planner, botanist, and psychologist as well as historian and outdoor expert. They are there to ensure your journey from start to finish is safe and interesting.

Every expedition supports a local not-for-profit organization. These range from conservationist and environmental projects to micro industries, health, and educational projects. And just as we try and take you as far into nature as possible, back in towns where our trips start and finish, we try and immerse you into the local culture and people with dinners with local families in their own homes.

We understand that your precious time away is important for your physical and mental health and forms an integral part of who you are and the story of your life. We do not take this for granted and ensure that you get the most out of the time you have with us.

While No Roads specializes in nature-based adventure travel, this doesn’t mean you have to rough it all the time. Before and after treks we always stay in very well-appointed establishments, handpicked by our expedition curators. Even on our camping trips, we try and make the journey as comfortable as possible with incredible food and excellent tent facilities.

Our journeys are quite select. We do not operate all over the planet, believing it is better to offer what you love rather than what will just give us a larger bottom line. They vary from strenuous climbing expeditions in Nepal, such as Island Peak and Mera Peak, to treks to Morocco’s highest 4000-meter summits, the jungle trek along the Kokoda Track, treks around the Mont Blanc massif and the Tour du Mont Blanc as well as hikes in the Italian Dolomites and the Peruvian Andes and Macchu Picchu.

We also offer incredible treks along the Great Ocean Walk in Victoria Australia and the Grampians in the same state. And in New Zealand, we offer hikes among the highest mountains in the country around Mt Cook Aoraki and even a conservation trek where we go deep into nature helping to protect an endangered parrot species, the Kakariki.

But not all our trips are on foot. We also offer sea kayaking trips in the wonderful UNESCO World Heritage-listed Komodo National Park and the remote and equally beautiful Tigak Sea in Papua New Guinea.

No Roads Expeditions has been a pioneer of several trails and sea kayaking journeys around the world. We were the first to attempt the Jati trail on Mt Rinjani in Lombok and we were also the first to sea kayak the Komodo Islands and the Tigak Sea in Papua New Guinea. No Roads also conducted the first-ever reenactment of the Kokoda Trek in PNG where participants dressed in WWII military uniforms, just as the soldiers did during the Kokoda campaign. No Roads is currently undertaking the first ascent and traverse of every 4000-meter peak in Papua New Guinea in which there is currently 12 known peak (however we are aware of at least another 20).

No Roads also loves putting together bespoke adventures for groups and adventures.
