At Move Over Mozart, we believe every child should have the opportunity to learn the piano in a fun, engaging, and supportive environment. Since our founding in the greater Seattle area in 1994, we have dedicated ourselves to making high-quality music education accessible to all children through both in-person and online programs.
Crescendo Kids: Our Beginning Piano Program
Crescendo Kids is our signature program designed for young, beginning pianists. Whether your child learns best in an in-person setting or thrives in an online environment, we offer flexible options to meet their needs.
In-Person Group Classes (currently only in Bellevue, Redmond, Kirkland, Shoreline and Woodinville, Washington)
Class Structure: Small group lessons of up to six students per class, lasting 30 minutes.
Locations: Held at preschools, elementary schools, and community centers in the greater Seattle area.
Age Range: Suitable for children ages 3.5 to 12 years old.
Teaching Approach: Classes combine interactive theory games with one-on-one piano instruction.
Special Method for Preschoolers: Young beginners use a color-coded system to play simple 5-note melodies. Stickers placed on the piano correspond with colored finger markings, helping students easily recognize notes.
Older Students: Receive a lesson book to progress through at their own pace.
Practice App Access: Students can review lessons, receive additional media support, and communicate with their teacher between lessons.
Online Piano Lessons
For students who prefer the convenience of learning from home, our online program provides an innovative approach to beginner piano instruction.
Instructional Videos: Short, engaging 3-5 minute videos guide students through fundamental concepts.
Live Mini-Lessons: Students receive 8-minute one-on-one coaching sessions with a teacher.
Flexible Learning: Our $88/month subscription includes unlimited mini-lessons* (8-minute lessons)
Practice App Access: Students can review lessons, receive additional media support, and communicate with their teacher between lessons.
Traditional 30-Minute Private Lessons: Older or advanced young students can opt for longer, structured private lessons for more in-depth learning. ($150/month)
*No more than 1 lesson per day and 24-hours notice required to cancel or reschedule a lesson.
What Sets Us Apart?
Experienced and Passionate Teachers
At Move Over Mozart, we select teachers based not only on their musical expertise but also their ability to connect with young students. Our online instructors all hold music or piano degrees, ensuring that students receive quality instruction. Teachers undergo ongoing training to keep up with the best teaching methods and strategies.
Engaging Incentive Programs
We believe that motivation is key to musical success, which is why we use Brag Tags—fun, colorful achievement tags that reward students for reaching practice goals. Collecting these badges encourages consistent practice and celebrates students’ progress in a tangible way. Currently, students can earn brag tags by listening to classical music, practicing one piece 50 times in a week, practicing consistently every week and for practicing several days consecutively in a row. Brag tags are also earned for participating in recitals and piano parties.
Exciting Online Piano Parties
Our free online piano parties are open to all children, whether they are students or not! These interactive gatherings include:
A musical story or game
A chance to compose a song
Learning about a famous composer
Showcasing student performances
Introducing a guest musician playing an instrument other than the piano
These parties are a great way to build community and excitement around music learning!
Performance Opportunities
We host three recitals per year, with our Spring Recital being the grandest event. This special performance takes place in Kirkland, where students get the rare opportunity to play on a concert grand piano—a thrilling and rewarding experience for young pianists! Our other recitals are at location or online at the end of Summer and during the winter holidays. We also provide gift recitals at a local retirement home for those students that want more opportunities to share and perform their music.
Supporting Parents on the Musical Journey
We understand that encouraging a child to practice can be challenging, so we strive to support parents in every way possible.

Practice App & Parent Involvement
Our interactive practice app makes it easy for students to review their lesson assignments, access additional media support, and stay engaged in their learning. It also keeps parents informed about their child’s progress. Students can send practice videos to their teachers for feedback between lessons, while teachers can share personalized videos to further support each student’s learning. The app also tracks practice time and rewards students with in-app incentives as they reach their practice goals, making learning both structured and motivating.
