The story starts in one of Europe’s youngest capitols, Madrid, Spain… it was picked by King Felipe II as his new capitol in the 1560s, replacing the smaller ancient 2000-year-old smaller capitol of Spain, walled city of Toledo.

Back to Madrid, Magical Spain founder Dan O’Beirne, was ready to meet visiting friends and enjoy a warm Spanish summer´s night, the historic old town beckoned. Soon the table and a vintage Rioja Reserva at one of Spain’s top tapas restaurants were ready.

It was one of many memorable dinners of a new American expat arrival to Spain. After collaborating with other travel and tour companies in Spain and leading many tours for friends it was time to celebrate.

Over 2 hours later in old Madrid, the 11 friends walked with MagicalSpain founder Dan O´Beirne via tiny old town lanes of cobblestone and wrought iron balconies, some back to majestic Spanish luxury hotels near the Spanish Congress.

It was during this gourmet tapas and Rioja vino dinner, sharing travel tales and vacation war stories that the genesis of Magical Spain Travel began.

The philosophy and motivation to offer discerning Americans and other world luxury travelers a more personalized, meaningful, and magical experiential journey to discover the authentic best of Spain and Portugal.

This is not as easy as it seems. You see, Dan wanted to find a solution to the common sense of frustration with mass market tourism, tourist traps that are included even in many private, tailor-made tours of Spain or luxury Portugal tours.

Dan also wanted to remove the frustration, stress and hassles of planning one’s own trip. And eradicate the wasted time and risk of missing out of doing a cookie-cutter trip.

To solve that problem for busy, discerning travelers and offer them peace of mind and access to a better way to experience Iberia, Magical Spain was born.

As Americans we get it, QUALITY TIME doing new, interesting experiences with family or friends is the new money.

Listen we get it, you probably work harder, have more responsibility and get more done than many of your peers…
