We specialize in handmade leather goods, designed and created at our East Hollywood Studio by founder Peter Maxwell. His contemporary design is informed by traditional Western American saddle making techniques that he learned as a child on the West Coast of the USA.
Made Solid collections feature pieces handmade using the finest American vegetable tanned leathers – tanned with organic materials like tree bark and water, natural dyes, plant based conditioners and all-natural finishing products.
We wholesale our work to retailers worldwide – from independent shops to well known retailers like West Elm, Shoppe Amber Interiors, The Heath Ceramics Newsstand and many more.
Beyond our in-house brand, Made Solid is a retailer, with our Studio at 4885 Fountain Avenue LA Ca 90029 doubling as our brick-and-mortar flagship store.
Through this space we also support interior designers, sourcing unique pieces from around the world and creating custom works for design professionals with trade discounts. We work with good friends throughout the US, Mexico, Japan and West Africa to bring pieces to our store and to design projects.
We work with our West African friends to source Antique African Trade Beads.
Our beaded jewelry collections are made from these colorful glass beads, bringing a sense of history and a vibrant pop to necklaces, bracelets and bead/leather combinations.
At Made Solid we work with friends. We have been developing creative relationships for decades. Peter Maxwell works with these friends to release unexpected collaborations cobranding under the Made Solid name. Past collaborations have included: Nordstrom, Olivia Kim, Nike, Vans, Ahlem Manai-Pratt / Ahlem Eyewear, Collette, Ouigi Theodore / The Brooklyn Circus, Artist Yusuke Hanai, Mr. Pigu / TENBOX, Artist Hi-Dutch, Connolly London, Jill Lindsey, Amber Lewis / Amber Interiors, Bloomist and more.
Currently we are working with curator ESO.BDR to bring a Photography Art Salon to the Made Solid Los Angeles Studio.
