Don was born and raised in the City of Dayton. Whereas Cyndi was raised in the suburb of Beavercreek. After they were married and had children, the Shurts family built a house in Beavercreek in 2000. Both of their children graduated from Beavercreek High School.

Their journey in real estate began when Don entered the industry in 2004, with Cyndi joining him the following year. This transition marked a significant shift from their previous careers. After graduating from Wright State University, Cyndi spent 21 years in the medical field working a two local hospitals, Kettering Health Network and Children’s Medical Center. Don’s higher education took him to Springfield, Missouri, where after graduating from Evangel University/CBC, he began his 27-year career in pastoral leadership at two local churches. Both of their former careers developed a love for helping people. This passion made an easy transition into the world of real estate where helping people became the focus of their business. They wanted to treat their clients like they would want to be treated while buying or selling a home, with honesty and integrity, always putting their clients’ interests, needs, and wants before their own.

From the beginning of their real estate career, Don & Cyndi helped friends and family buy and sell homes. Sometimes it was helping a young adult buy their first home or helping “empty nesters” downsize from their 4 bedroom two story home to something a bit smaller or on occasion a larger luxury ranch home with a few nice bells and whistles. Don & Cyndi fell in love with helping their clients pursue their dreams in real estate. Although their website and business are built on the name of Miami Valley Dream Homes, they have always communicated to their clients and the public that “Dream Homes come in all sizes and price ranges.”

Starting at Real Living Realty, which has since become Howard Hanna Realty, the couple’s business flourished.
