We have a particular interest in assisting people through milestone changes such as downsizing from a family home into retirement living. Director Kate Kerin realised there was a gap in the interior design market when she supported a close family member through this sometimes stressful transition. There didn’t seem to be any option for simplifying the design process while also maintaining style and sophistication. Kate drew on her interior design experience and affinity with older people and created KK Interiors.

Many of our clients are downsizers seeking a simpler lifestyle, but they don’t want to sacrifice style or high-quality interior design. Some may want a full re-design of their home, integrating up-to-the-minute technology with a new selection of furniture, accessories, colours and finishes. Others may require a curated space, retaining treasured pieces that can be integrated with beautiful new elements. There may be physical, emotional or access needs to consider. KK Interiors can assist clients whatever their interior design goals may be.

Whether they want to revamp just one room or create their dream home, KK Interiors brings a collaborative and creative mindset, a genuine understanding of my clients’ individual needs and a commitment to making the process as stress-free and enjoyable as possible.

Most design collaborations begin with an in-home or online Initial Consultation. This is our opportunity to get to know each other and talk about your project. Kate will get a feel for your needs, and you’ll see examples of her design aesthetic and experience. Following our consultation, if you wish to proceed we will provide a full project proposal and contract for services.

Full service interior design packages cover the entire process from start to finish. Each job is unique and we will provide a quote and timeframe that is tailored to your needs and the size and scope of your project. Whether you are downsizing to apartment living or renovating your dream home, KK Interiors can assist. Depending on your project, you can expect some of the following inclusions:

• Spatial planning (2D and 3D floor plans and representations of your newly designed space)
• In-home consultations and site visits throughout the project
• Mood boards and sample boards so you can identify your style then watch your vision come to life
• Full furniture, fixtures and equipment (FFE) schedules that detail your selections
• Assistance with selection and management of contractors
• Installation and styling of your spaces

We can make recommendations of trusted builders and trades, or work with your preferred tradespeople. We will oversee the implementation of our designs during construction so it all looks just like you imagined!

If your budget is tight, you’re located outside of Sydney or you’re keen to put your room together yourself, you can purchase our e-Design package. For a flat fee per room, you will receive:

• One 2-D floor plan of the current room layout
• One 2-D floor plan with any proposed changes to the layout (if relevant)
• Two mood boards per room to help the direction of the design
• One key visual representation of each room designed using SketchUp
• A full, hyperlinked schedule of all furniture and accessory selections, floor coverings, paint/wallpaper/wall treatments, fabric/window treatments and any other items selected for your room. Prices will be accurate at the time of delivery of the schedule.

e-Design usually takes 3-5 weeks. We do the design, and you do the shopping and installation. This package includes one revision opportunity at each step, with additional revisions billed at our hourly rate.

Choosing the perfect components of your home can be challenging. KK Interiors can source furniture, bathroom and kitchen fixtures, flooring and accessories and artwork. Fit out one room or your entire home; it’s up to you.

This service sits comfortably with our e-Design package for those not based in Sydney. Alternatively KK Interiors can tailor a package for you which will either include shopping together or on your behalf.

Our Furniture and Artwork Selection package starts with our Initial Consultation. Once the scope of your project is agreed, this package is billed at an hourly rate. A quote will be provided following the Initial Consultation.

• Retro-fit an existing home to improve mobility, visibility, audio and safety aspects or include these in your new location
• Renovate kitchens, bathrooms and other spaces to suit your style whether in your existing home or in a retirement community

Spatial planning involves thinking about the spaces we live in, and making sure they are designed in the best way possible to enhance their use and liveability. This may involve moving or removing a wall, re-considering the layout of fixtures and fittings or adding windows or skylights. KK Interiors works with SketchUp to create 2D floor plans, 3D visualisations and fly-throughs.

Not everyone wants or needs major changes to their space in order to create an oasis. Sometimes a simple styling project can change the entire feel of a room. KK Interiors can create a stylish look for just one room or the entire house, whether preparing for sale, or for you and your family to enjoy.

Following our Initial Consultation, KK Interiors will undertake a full audit of the spaces being styled, provide you with an estimate of the procurement budget required and an itemised plan of the items we will secure for you. We then procure all accessories and styling items on your behalf.

The size and scope of the room will determine the budget for purchasing accessories, soft furnishings (cushions, throws etc) and if desired, artworks. We will meet in your home to discuss your style, assess the room, take measurements and photos, and plan the purchases. On installation day we install and arrange all items until the room is absolutely perfect!
