Professor Ibrahim Malek is a fellowship trained, experienced specialist Hip & Knee replacement surgeon based in Wrexham and serves communities in North Wales and North West regions in the UK. He completed his orthopaedic training from All Wales Orthopaedic training programme and gained further specialist training in hip and knee reconstruction from prestigious fellowship in Adelaide, Australia. Professor Malek works as a specialist hip and knee surgeon both in NHS at Wrexham Maelor Hospital and also privately at Spire Yale Hospital and Abergele Clinic. His main interests are Minimally Invasive Hip and Knee replacement surgery. He is one of the largest volume hip and knee replacement surgeon in Wales and North West region and performs more than 300-350 joint replacement procedures in a year with excellent pateint reported outcomes. He is also a strong believer is joint preservation procedures like innovative joint injections to avoid surgery if possible. Professor Malek is extremely proud of delivering a very high quality, pateint orientated and personalised exceptional orthopaedic service to his pateints and gets consistent excellent clinical results. He utilises state of the art technology in minimal invasive joint replacement surgery in delivering exceptional quality of orthopaedic service to his patients. He was instrumental in setting up services like 'Day case' arthroplasty service and 'Super-lists' to tackle mounting waiting lists for joint replacement procedures I North Wales. Professor Malek is extremely passionate for research and consistently publish research papers in renowned journals. He is Principal Investigator for various national trials to improve orthopaedic care for his patients. He is a highly regarded Orthopaedic trainer for higher specialty trainees from All Wales and Oswestry orthopaedic rotation. He is also a visiting Professor at Faculty of Life Sciences, Wrexham University.
