Historic Edinburgh Tours is an award-winning walking tour company which takes guests around Edinburgh’s UNESCO World Heritage SIte on a number of guided tours.
Robert, our company owner, researcher and guide, is a local Edinburgh tour guide, was born here and has lived here all of his life. He’s an experienced primary school teacher and uses his 25+ years of classroom experience to help engage his guests.
We run private Edinburgh tours (this is our main keyword), around the Old Town and offer a number of different ‘themes’;
An Old Edinburgh tour – looking at some of the famous people, places and events within the Old Town.
A Greyfriars Kirkyard tour – where we visit one of the most historic burial grounds on the planet
A Royal Mile tour – we walk up the famous Royal Mile. Since Edinburgh has been the capital city of Scotland since the mid-1400s, this street has seen it all. One historian once said that she believed around 2/3 of Scotland’s important events happened on this single thoroughfare!
A Victorian Slums tour – By the 19th century, Edinburgh’s rich had moved into the plush New Town. The Old Town became an overcrowded slum area, where life was cheap and harsh. We reveal a very different side to Edinburgh’s history.
A Bonnie Prince Charlie in Edinburgh tour – come with us as we look at the people, Edinburgh events and the places which played a part in the Jacobite Rebellion of 1745.
