Highgate Contemporary Art
United Kingdom, London
Highgate Contemporary Art is a female owned independent art gallery based in North London.
Main Services
One of the things that makes the gallery so unique is that it is artist-led and owned by contemporary painter, Hannah Ivory Baker. It is also her working studio.
The gallery specialisiles in selling contemporary art and ceramics and it was first established in the mid 1950s.
We hold around 10 exhibitions per year, and numerous online and open call exhibitions that provide much needed opportunities for emerging artists to exhibit their work alongside established names.
We have at least one charity exhibition per year, and this June 2023, we will be holding an art auction to raise money for a very important charity. More details about this are available on our website.
We also hold 2, open call, anonymous postcard exhibitions per year that allow artists and makers to sell small pieces of work for no more than £100. This runs online and allows for buyers to buy artwork in a different way, without knowing who the artist is and to start collecting small pieces of original artwork.
We also have a membership service for artists to join, that allows them to take part in our annual Art Prize, submit to our open calls, access a calendar of exhibitions, articles, video demos and tutorials about all sorts of aspects of art from oil painting to working with porcelain, written and recorded by established makers and artists.
