The Bays Islands of Roatan and Utila are located on the Meso-American barrier reef (the second largest barrier reef in the world after the Great Barrier Reef) and have been well-known for divemaster and Instructor training for decades. Historically, Utila has attracted more IDC candidates as it has a reputation for being cheaper to visit. However, in the past 15 years, Roatan has started to surpass Utila with GoProCaribbean offering subsidized accommodation. Roatan is easier and cheaper to fly to, whereas Utila requires a ferry or an island hopper. Roatan offers more choices than Utila; there are more beaches and better general supplies that one might need when traveling away from home. William Welbourn has been a Course Director for longer than any other course director in Honduras, possibly Central America. He has taught more people to become PADI instructors than any other course director in Honduras. Dive centers throughout the Americas seek to employ instructors trained by him due to the quality of the training he provides. Signing up to train with him means you get to benefit from his decades of experience dedicated to teaching the IDC as his sole business activity.
One of the most challenging parts of becoming a PADI instructor is passing the written dive theory exams. GoProCaribbean truly excels in this area. His knowledge of dive theory and his ability to teach this is unsurpassed. He is known worldwide for the videos he has made to teach people dive theory and has a successful YouTube channel with thousands of subscribers. None of his candidates have failed an Instructor exam in the last ten years.
GoProCaribbean includes significant extra content in its Instructor Development Course that is not part of the PADI curriculum. This extra content, which covers real-life knowledge, will ensure that program graduates can easily transition from trainee instructors to qualified PADI instructors. This extra content results from the two decades of experience we have offered professional scuba instruction. Regarding the PADI IDC, a genuinely experienced and eloquent course director is the most critical factor in ensuring exam success and enjoyment of the course.
