Glitter and Sass

About the Founder: Pam Stewart. Mother of 2 girls aged 8 and 10; Making a change from Corporate world to small business owner; Goal 1 – to provide positive experiences for children, especially young girls, to support their growth to be who they are while also accepting of others. Goal 2 – is to provide mentoring to our young and future workforce around business, community and personal expectations.

About the business:
Glitter and Sass is a party place and day spa experience for every young girl, tween or teen. We offer party options and pampering experiences to nurture the individuality of their many personalities. We aim to build a socially responsible business with a team who care about growing confidence in young girls through expression, creativity and role-modelling positive behaviours.

Glitter and Sass will not only be somewhere fun to celebrate special occasions but will also have a focus on our broader community. We aim to provide employment opportunities for young people who are ready to enter the workforce, which we will approach in a mentoring capacity to support our young adult journeys.

We are here for birthday parties with friends, a spa treatment for two or a glitter braid for that special day out. Our purpose for being is to celebrate every friendship by adding some glitter and channeling some sass.
The current businesses in this space are very “princess” focused and that is just not for everyone. We want to provide an environment where every girl can be who they are, celebrate friendships and build their confidence. We will have a diverse team and aim to be an inclusive party destination.

COMPANY OVERVIEW
Glitter and Sass was born from a need to offer my girls, their friends to have a day spa party option that comes with more than the pink fairytale theme. Princesses and fairytales are a perfect party theme for some, but it is not the experience all girls are looking for. Providing some “sass” to the market is one key differentiator. Second key differentiator is to provide a sensory experience party for children with higher needs, such as Autism. This is a niche market that also has grants and funding available from government departments and other supporting organisations. The initial goal is to start small, validate the plan, size the opportunity, and then build from there.

Mission Statement: To make everyone feel good about who they are. We will support acceptance and understanding that each of us are beautifully unique.

Purpose: Celebrate every friendship by adding some glitter channelling some sass.

Market Segmentation: Parents of children aged between 4 and 14. Children within both these age groups. We cover the following categories:
o Kids entertainment.
o Kids experiences.
o Health and Beauty.

Competition: There are 2 immediate businesses in the area that deliver a service similar. Miss Petite – Tingalpla, Sassy Chic’s – Greenslopes, and some mobile party options. Additionally, all children’s party places such as Bounce, Adventure Playground are competing for the party market.

The advantages I have with Glitter and Sass are:
o Wider market than direct competitors with more than princess party themes available. Silent disco party is unique and fun. 10 individual headphones with 3 channels that the whole party can tune into. The headphones themselves have coloured LED lights so during the party it could be dance time with upbeat tunes or relaxing facial time with a more zen playlist.
o 4 additional chairs (like a salon) for more frequent use, not party related.
o Coloured Hair braid extensions are a really big trend right now and we will offer that service in the salon for individuals or parties. There is no competition around right now so that is a key service to highlight.

Sourcing: I have been sourcing products at wholesale prices in bulk from Alibaba. Items that are not skincare related are the only items I will purchase from there. Everything else that goes on the skin will be sourced in AUSTRALIA to ensure it is safe, and as organic as possible. I will support Australian owned companies wherever possible and specifically companies with a CSR focus. There is the option to sell the nail polishes which is included in the wholesale agreement with Piggy paints Australia if we choose to increase the buy.
