I stepped into the world of jewelry in an effort to find myself and to reposition into reality, emerging from a background which was not at all hinting at such a professional development.

CORINA MARDARI

After holding two university degrees, in History (University of Bucharest, Romania,1997) and Law (University of Bucharest, Romania, 2001) and a few years spent as business law attorney, I found myself part of the numerous people living disconnected from nature, forebears and ancestral values, artificially fitting into a postmodern fancy alienation.
This small crisis regarding my future, my recent maternity and the collateral changes of perspective just helped me making a significant change. Specifically, I shortly attended the only silversmith training course available in Romania in 2006 (with UCECOM), then I continued to study independently and starting 2013, I have frequently benefited from the professional perspective of Assamblage – School of Contemporary Jewelry, Alchimia Contemporary Jewelry School and K2 Academy of Contemporary Jewellery London.
The change was equally astonishing and so natural, a daring return towards my inner self and also to the challenge of the first passions I nurtured – technique and aesthetics, interwoven in a playful dynamic in contemporary jewelry.
I developed my jewelries in two complementary directions – a conceptual, ”story-backed” jewelries in precious metals and wonderful natural gemstones, that were frequently exhibited at Autor- International Contemporary Jewelry Fair, Milano Jewelry Week and at many fairs in Bucharest, Romania where also my showroom is located.

Making a jewel is a cognitive experience, my own new way of acknowledging the world and thus a modus vivendi. Each piece of jewelry is the result of an effervescent research, meditative understanding of and a naïve wonder at the beauty around us, which sometimes is not in plain sight.

Structures, patterns and functional principles in nature are the first step in the evolution of my work now focusing on the apparent material dimension of reality. I am very conscientious of the interactions between elements, of complementarities searching for their harmonies sometimes just comprehensible and not visible, of the potential of deconstruction and re-signification within alternative geometries thus recreating a world of personal perceptions and feelings.

The second line of jewelries, in limited series, comprises ”spontaneous” pieces abundant in natural pearls and colorful gemstone beads complemented by the innovative 14k/20 gold-filled elements or rosary style work.

The joy of working myself each and entire piece of jewelry, the generous time, patience and perfectionism invested in the quality of work, always responsibly choosing the best materials and honestly finding my inspiration only within my own universe are details which also define my jewelries.

I feel the need to mention some of the most sincere feedback from my clients – ”your jewelries have a soul”, ”I always choose something made by you when I decide to wear a jewelry”, ”do you still have this bracelet? I had to offer it ”, anyway many, many happy clients to whom I thank them all from all my heart. And I also thank you for the time spent reading all this, whoever you are.
