The central theme for CATTCC is to discover and implement a brand-new mode of transportation.
There is a tremendous importance of transportation; it’s the foundation for all urban growth. All land-use is based on its primary source of transportation. For urban growth to be sustainable, it must include a new form of transportation that is sustainable.
Train technology originated 200 years ago. Automobile technology originated 125 years ago. Airplane technology originated 100 years ago. The advances of these current forms of transportation are technologies from other industries, predominantly computerization and communications. These three original modes of transportation were built for older societies. The modern world needs a modern mode of transportation to accommodate today’s modern society transportation’s needs.
The land-use of urban structures are designed to accommodate its transportation. The Transit Oriented land-use design is predominantly concentrated with vertical real estate development to accommodate commerce along a fixed-rail transit corridor.
Automobiles are the foundation of Western Society’s automobile centric land-use design. Automobile centric land-use design is sprawl real estate development. As a consequence to automobile centric land-use, it builds sporadic and an unstructured conglomeration of roads and parking. The product of automobile centric land-use design produces structures to accommodate cars.
Automobile centric land-use design accommodates cars, people are secondary in the design of its land-use. The automobile is convenient and useful; however, it’s totally unsustainable. Building a society upon an unsustainable foundation is problematic.
The future of transportation necessitates a form of transportation with sustainable energy use, and it has to be more convenient than an automobile.
The mission of CATTCC is fivefold: to educate; to draw entrepreneurs together; find solutions for sustainable transportation and sustainable urban growth; research and discover new modes of transportation; and then implement new transportation innovations. This is attainable when people participate in the goal.
The CATTCC website contains a myriad of blogposts that reflect ideas and concepts to explore that focus on building new transportation technologies.
There are two ways to support CATTCC. To participate in the conversation, and/or becoming a member. CATTCC is a part of the Ameliorate (meaning: to make better) Group. This organization is transportation didactics (which means: learning by participation) and encompasses urban growth.
Being a member of CATTCC, participants learn that land-use design is specific to its transportation, and how to make it better.
