Catskills Comfrey

We grow comfrey, calendula, arnica, CBD-dominant hemp, yarrow, St John’s wort and cleavers – and subsequently create topical ointments.

We create comfrey-based topical ointments, salves and creams via the infusion process; we use no essential oils, essences or extracts. Our carrier oils of MCT (fractionated coconut oil) and Greek olive oils are 100% infused to address, primarily, skin-surface issues and joint pain or arthritic discomfort. All ointments contain the same amount of comfrey as found in our Original ointment.

We firmly believe the infusion process produces the highest possible array of medicinal benefits. The plants’ constituents remain together in the carrier oils, working together, as nature originally intended. The Entourage Effect lives here.

We are completely ‘clean & green’, our healthy plants nourished with the Catskills sun, soil, water and well-aged, composted cow manure as our sole fertilizer. By growing our own comfrey, we can put a lot of comfrey into every ointment we make.

Comfrey contains the active ingredient, allantoin, which is a cell-proliferant, actively supporting the body’s ability to create new skin cells. This is advantageous in skin conditions like atopic dermatitis (eczema, psoriasis and rosacea) where the cell ‘turnover’ rate is elevated. Allantoin also speeds the mending of broken bones by helping create the new cells needed to mend the damaged bone. Comfrey also contains mucilage which may contribute to comfrey’s efficacy in reducing the intensity, frequency and duration of Trigger Finger symptoms. Comfrey is truly multi-talented.
