Audio Mixing Basics and Work flow
Caleb has over five years of experience in audio and has a passion for helping people make their mixes sound the best they can. Proficient in Apple Logic Pro X and GarageBand, Avid Pro Tools, and CakeWalk by BandLab Caleb can help you discover how to get the best workflow for you. No matter if you’re just starting out in your bedroom or leaving a studio with with full mixable sessions.
Knowing your plugins is just as important as knowing your DAW. Caleb has expertise with Waves plugins, Universal Audio plugins, iZotope Plugins, HOFA Plugins, as well as the Logic Pro stock plugins and Pro Tools stock plugins. The basics of compression, EQ, Reverb, Delay and most other types of effects are universal so knowing the basics is incredibly useful.
Mastering Audio
The best description of mastering I’ve ever read came from my friend Shawn at Mohawk Studios in Sandusky, Ohio:
“The term “mastering” is often misunderstood and misrepresented. Although it does include putting that final polished, commercial CD sound to an individual track, it can also mean putting a collection of tracks together in a way that sounds coherent and flows like a great live concert would. This includes not just the sound of the tracks but their related levels, their order and the length of the gaps between tracks.”
Mastering your tracks to sound the best they can is essential for today’s musicians. Why pay someone to master your demos when you can learn to do it yourself? Caleb can help you learn the basics of Multi-band compression and limiting so you can make your tracks sound the best they can and ready to post to Spotify and BandCamp.
