Ballroom at Windsor – McCarthy Tree Farm

The venue is named after our historic house ‘Windsor’ which sits on the property and is on the National Historic Register. We love to repurpose materials and have collected items for several years that we incorporated into the venue. We have large historic windows from 1826 that came from a building in Delaware City and many of them still contain the original wavy glass. Our amazing floors are from a local warehouse built in the early 1900s, Wilmington Fiber Foundry. They were the original beams that we had milled into 5″ and 8″ random tongue and grove flooring. Our custom bar is made from the flooring from that same building. We also have restored bank vault gates that act as an entryway into our Old-World PUB which is a favorite room of our couples and guests alike. My husband also built our custom tables in the PUB and outside the Cocktail pavilion from that same flooring. We have hanging lights in the PUB that are from Spain and look like they came out of a castle.

The property itself has been a farm since the 1700’s. It was originally a dairy farm up to the time it was subdivided in the mid 1980s in which time the Christmas Tree Farm was started. We became the new caretakers of the property when we purchased it in 2004. Our master carpenter built us a fairytale bridge that was installed in 2022 and is another unique feature we have here. It is a favorite with our couples and photographers. We are a family-owned and operated business. When someone rents the venue, they have exclusive use of the property and venue (it is not open to the general public). Our grounds provide a beautiful backdrop for photos.

At the Ballroom at Windsor, we’ve created a Delaware Reception venue experience with the ideal blend of country charm and sophisticated elegance. Your wedding can be held all in one place making your day seamless from getting ready with your wedding party, to the last song at the reception! The country charm and barn look on the outside with a more elegant on the outside (barn/rustic exterior – drywall, climate control, custom features, and amenities on the inside). The wedding ceremony pavilion is nestled in a tranquil tree-covered area. No waiting or sitting out under the blaring sun. Waterview in the background.
