Our Journey

Auresso’s journey started when we first bought a domestic espresso machine. We tried pulling a shot using grounded coffee from a supermarket. It was okay but we wondered why it wasn’t spectacular. After undergoing barista training at a cafe in Australia, we soon realized our passion for Arabica and the eagerness to learn more. Many different permutations decide the end result of a brewed cup of coffee, first and foremost the freshly roasted Arabica beans. As our passion grew, we questioned if we could a make a difference in the Malaysian landscape. Malaysia is a country with huge numbers of coffee enthusiast who have been drinking predominantly Robusta based coffee drinks. With increasing population of expatriates coming into Malaysia, students returning from overseas and the flow and effect of globalization, the market is learning on the flavour profiles of Arabica. Auresso was born to bridge this gap and the journey begins.
Auresso was founded by Ramesh Sinniah who holds a Bachelor’s degree in Electronics Engineering from Multimedia University, Malaysia. Upon graduation in year 2005, he spent his first few years doing various technical related roles in the Telecommunication industry. In year 2011, he completed his MBA from the Wawasan Open University and embarked on a new role as an Internal Auditor dealing mainly in corporate governance, risk assessment and management. In the same year, he started Auresso as a part time project and eventually left the corporate world in year 2014 to focus fully on expanding Auresso.

Our Products & Services

If you’re wondering why Auresso, it simply means Australian espresso. This is because we started of by partnering with Rubra Coffee, an artisan coffee roaster from Perth, Australia. A few of their best-selling coffee blends and single origin coffees were chosen and listed on Auresso’s website. Orders were collected and fulfilled on a monthly basis by importing the pre-ordered items via express air-freight service. As volume increased, freight shipment and order fulfillment frequency was also increased to bi-weekly. Market awareness for Auresso grew and in late 2012, we received our first wholesale enquiry to supply roasted coffee beans for an upcoming cafe. This was great as it opened up an opportunity for Auresso to start looking into adding more products suitable for cafe consumption. With that, from only offering roasted coffee bean, we added drinking chocolate powders, biodegradable pyramid teabags, uji matcha and chai latte powders and also coffee cascara. These 6 product categories remain as Auresso’s core product till today.
In addition to product supplies, we also provide beverage bar consultation to anyone who is planning to venture into cafe and restaurant business. Our consultation includes on budget planning, recommendations on most suitable coffee machine and grinder based on budget and concept and also product sampling. Based on this, Auresso will help to source for the coffee machine and coffee grinder and provide quotations. For existing cafe and restaurant owners, we do provide samples for all the beverage products we carry. Brewing guides are included for convenience but of course all recipes can be customized to cater for different taste and serving size.

Our Core Brands

Coffee has always been the core focus for Auresso. Over the years, many factors have affected the way we offer our roasted coffee especially due to the increasing number of local players. As such, Auresso currently has strategic collaboration with a few local coffee roaster including Ghostbird Coffee and Drum Coffee Roasters. There are a few coffee blends developed together in order to supply mainly to Auresso’s wholesale clients. These coffee blends are suitable for cafe and restaurant use as their flavors are more balanced and consistent. In terms of variety, we try cater to cater for a wider market by offering coffees on different roast levels and price points. This is one of the advantage for wholesale customers to work with Auresso as they’re not limited with options. Market and customer expectations are always evolving, and with Auresso, cafe and restaurant owners can always cater for different needs easily by changing to different coffee blends. For home brewers, it gets more interesting with our guest coffee roaster option. Guest roaster is where we work with a different international coffee roaster on a bi-weekly basis to offer their roasted coffee beans on a pre-order concept. Plenty of options available which can be categorized into light and filter roast, medium or espresso roast and premium coffee blends. All the coffees from our international guest roaster falls under the Specialty Grade ensuring exciting brewing and tasting experience to our clients. In regards to the ordering process, coffee options are advertised only on our website where clients can purchase. At the end of the ordering period which is normally a week for every roaster, the total orders collected are then passed over to the roaster to prepare and roast. When the shipment is ready, we bring it down via express courier which normally takes only a few days. All orders are then packed and sent out via domestic courier service. In the past 2 years, we have worked with some of the top coffee roasters in the world including Gardelli Italy, Onyx US, Square Mile UK, Kaffa Oslo Norway and Coffee Collective Denmark.
For drinking chocolate powder, Auresso have collaborated with The Original Cocoa Traders Australia to distribute their drinking chocolate powders in Malaysia. Their drinking chocolate powders are designed for both cafe and home use, and it’s different than regular cocoa powder. Drinking chocolate powders have higher cocoa butter content making it more creamier and delicious. Plus, they’re Gluten & GMO free, vegan friendly, contains no artificial preservative or flavoring and is also Halal friendly. There are three different blends currently available which are Koko Deluxe 42%, Mofo Deluxe 29% and the top of the range Premium Mofo Deluxe 50%. Another reason why they’re highly sought after is because it blends easily and only uses a small amount per serving resulting in a delicious and highly consistent chocolate drinks, both hot and cold.
Malaysia is also traditionally a huge market for tea consumption. With local production by major brands centered in Cameron Highlands, it has become a staple drink for many. However, the awareness and penetration for higher quality teas are still low and for this reason, we have partnered with XO Teas Australia. XO Teas is founded by Arjun, whose family have been growing and manufacturing teas since 1935. Arjun’s passion for high quality and premium teas have led him to ensure every product and ingredient used are sourced from the Origin where they occur natively. In addition, XO Teas are certified organic by NASAA which confirms that his teas are certified against one of the most stringest standards in the world. Arjun also does tea blends which are created with Ayurveda and natropatic consultation, making sure its high in quality, distinct in flavor and like no other. For Malaysian market, we currently offer XO Teas in food service teabags, loose teas and retail boxes.
Matcha and more recently Houjicha beverages have become popular in cafes and restaurants since many consumers are making health conscious decisions in regards to beverages they consume. High quality matcha and houjicha powder are known to be from the Uji region in Kyoto, Japan and for this reason we have engaged with Izumi San from Kiyosen Japan. Izumi San is born in a family with over 200 years of history in tea cultivation and production, and is officially accredited as tea appraisers in 1997. We have selected high quality Uji Tencha which is the basic material for high quality matcha powder. These teas are ground slowly and thoroughly resulting in mild sweetness and fresh aroma. Kiyosen matcha powder is suitable for various uses such hot and cold beverages, cakes, pastries & cookies. On the other hand, houjicha refers to roasted green tea. The roasting process burns away bitterness and also caffeine, so its suitable for children .
Similar to matcha and houjicha beverages, demand for chai latte beverages have also increased over the years. Auresso currently collaborate with both Chai Me Australia and XO Teas Australia for chai latte powder supplies.The Original Blend by Chai Me is a sweetened version, and contains a secret recipe of exotic freshly milled spices blended to perfection that energizes your body and senses. The XO Chai however is an unsweetened version, has a stronger spice flavor and works best for those who are more conscious in their sugar intake. As both options uses grounded spice, expect some residue due to the undissolved spices but they’re perfectly safe to be consumed.
Cascara completes our sixth and last core product category. Cascara means skin in Spanish, and is a novel way of recycling leftover coffee pulp. These pulp are produced in huge quantities when ripe cherries are hulled and are traditionally discarded as waste. But now, it is possible to dry this leftover pulp to create the base for a unique and refreshing tea. Our current Cascara supplies are from Market Lane Australia. This lot of cascara is produced in Caranavi, Bolivia by various smallholder farmers that deliver to Buena Vista Mill.
As mentioned earlier, we also assist clients in getting suitable coffee machine and coffee grinder catered to their budget and needs. This is made possible through Auresso’s strategic collaboration with Coffex Coffee Malaysia where Auresso is appointed as one of their authorized sales agent. Basically, any espresso machine and grinder available at Coffex can also be purchased via Auresso and in addition to a better negotiated price, one would also receive further cash rebate from Auresso. The amount of cash rebate will depend on the invoice value, and clients would be able to use it to purchase any of our products. Some of the bestselling models include La Cimbali M23up, Wega Pegaso 2 Group, Casadio Undici, Fiorenzato F64 Evo and Mahlkonig EK43.
