African Moon Adventures

Offering private and small group tours, made up of singles, couples and friends, with a maximum of 7 pax per tour. We take you on the routes less travelled, in safety and air-conditioned comfort!
Ian Renecle, founder of African Moon Adventures, launched his Tour Operator company in 2013 based on his passion for the outdoors and after many years of going offroad and discovering the true essence of the people of southern Africa and their different cultures and origins.
Ian is an amazing tour operator, recognized as such by companies like Get your Guide and TripAdvisor alike – which is great for business, however, it is his 5-star recommendations from his happy clients that give him the most joy.
He goes the extra mile with all his tours, ensuring first and foremost the safety of his clients whilst showing them the best of Cape Town and its amazingly beautiful surrounding areas, which covers the Wine Tasting Tours of the award-winning winelands of the Cape, the safari tours showcasing the incredible wildlife, the breathtaking beauty of the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve and the majestic Table Mountain, one of the new 7 Wonders of the World. In addition, he takes them to the cultural hotspots in the heart of Cape Town, quite often stopping in the BoKaap, home of the Muslim community, who have been resident in this area since the first Dutch Settlers arrived in South Africa.

By far the most popular tour requested by all African Moon Adventures clients is the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve Tour.
This full day tour of Cape Point includes interacting with the Ostriches at the Ostrich Farm and viewing the Penquins at Boulders Beach, culminating in the world-famous Constantia Valley for a relaxing wine tasting session. Clients sit back and enjoy the epic scenery on this multi-stop tour around the Cape Peninsula, passing through the trendy Camps Bay area, Hout Bay and over Chapmans Peak as they travel along to Cape Point before heading back via Boyes Drive, False Bay and the Shark Spotters lookout on their way to their wine tasting experience in the beautifully fertile Constantia Valley. Another favorite of African Moon Adventures international client base is the Aquila Private Game Reserve Tour.
The tour departs early morning from Cape Town and heads east towards the Karoo region. After a comfortable two-hour journey, you reach Aquila Private Game Reserve.
Situated near the historic town of Touws River, in a valley between the Langeberg and the Outeniqua Mountains in the Karoo, the 10,000-hectare conservancy has evolved from its early days of being residence to various antelope species only, to becoming the home of the famous Big 5 – elephant, lion, buffalo, rhino and leopard – as well as a significant amount of other wild game, which roam freely on the reserve.
A welcome drink will await you on arrival followed by a scrumptious buffet breakfast before starting the game drive at 10h15. You’ll be transported in an open top game viewing vehicle for a 2 to 3 hour long professionally guided tour. After the mini safari you will be treated to a leisurely buffet lunch. You can also take a refreshing dip in the beautiful pool overlooking the reserve after lunch.
Once you’ve had your swim and lazed around the pool, you will be transported back to Cape Town, through the Hex River valley, the beautiful Du Toitskloof mountains and the 4km long Huguenot tunnel. Once through the tunnel you will see the majestic Table Mountain in the far distance.
This is a full day tour and will be one of the most memorable days on your visit to Cape Town in South Africa. Read more: https://africanmoonadventures.com/safari-tours/safari/

In addition, African Moon Adventures also offer a trip up the arid west coast in their West Coast Safari Day Tour, which is only an hour away from Cape Town, and where you can experience the sight of the wildlife in their natural habitat, eat delicious olives, drink thirst quenching beers and taste award-winning wines.
After a comfortable air-conditioned drive up the West Coast, you will reach the Buffelsfontein Private Game & Nature Reserve. Enjoy complimentary coffee, tea and juice on arrival.
Your professionally guided tour at Buffelsfontein Private Game Reserve will start at 9am. After an awesome 3-hour game drive in an open top game viewing vehicle, where you will see a variety of different wildlife roaming around, it’s off to Darling Olives for a 40 minute olive tasting, accompanied by a white and red wine taster at the same time.
Not far from the olive farm lies the quaint village of Darling. Here we visit the Darling Brewery. At this modern craft brewery, you can taste some of their 13 craft beers and indulge in a lovely casual lunch overlooking the working brewery.
After lunch you’ll head to one of Darling’s fine wine estates for wine tasting. The town and surrounds are the home of vineyard plantings influenced by the nautical conditions of the nearby Atlantic Ocean. Mainly dry land, the plantings yield fruit of huge intensity and flavor, resulting in wonderful wines.
For those with a sweet tooth we will stop off at Darling Sweets and sample their high-quality toffees and caramels that are handcrafted using traditional methods and with no artificial colorants, flavorings or preservatives added, thus making it a ‘clean label’ product.
After this sugar rush, we travel back to Cape Town via Bloubergstrand to admire the most spectacular view over the ocean towards Table Mountain, after which you will be dropped off at your hotel.

Another constant request from guests is the award-winning wine tasting tour!
South Africa is one of the top 10 wine-producing countries in the world, and most of it happens in the Winelands just outside of Cape Town. So why don’t you hop on board for a personal experience around the Franschhoek valley, surely the most beautiful village along the wine route. Stroll through the beautiful gardens at Babylonstoren, taste some of the finest award-winning Cape wines, see some local art including garden sculptures, fine and contemporary art, and dine at one the many exquisite restaurants of the region.
The tour departs at 08h30 from Cape Town’s V&A Waterfront, or your city hotel. We travel along the N1 towards the famous Babylonstoren for close to an hour before we reach the tranquility of Babylonstoren, one of the oldest Cape Dutch farms with its diverse fruit and vegetable garden.

On arrival we’ll go to the Farm Shop to grab a cup of coffee or fresh juice, try some nuts, dip freshly baked bread in olive oil and dukkah, browse through all the interesting products on sale before the garden tour starts.

At 10h00 one of the experienced gardeners will meet us for a guided tour, during which they encourage guests to pick, taste, smell and touch while walking through their garden. Depending on the time of year, guests will be taken to see the succulent collection, the cycads next to the stream or for a walk through the Healing Garden. Every one of the more than 300 varieties of plants in the garden is edible or has medicinal value.
After completing the approximately 1.5hr garden tour you’ll step into the Scented Room and experience the fresh smells and fragrances on offer. By now it’s almost time for some wine and we travel into Franschhoek and visit one of the top wine estates in the valley for a tasting session of a few award-winning wines. During harvest season you may be lucky enough to get a behind the scenes view of how wine is made. Read more: https://africanmoonadventures.com/winelands/

Looking for an adrenaline rush? Go on a Zipline tour with African Moon Adventures – voted the 2nd best activity in the world by Lonely Planet in 2015 – and this trend continues to grow in popularity!
Just an hour from Cape Town, the Cape Canopy Tour is situated in a World Heritage Site within Cape Nature’s Hottentots Holland Nature Reserve, located in the scenic Elgin Valley.
The ziplining consists of eleven thrilling slides, one of 320m long, each ending on a platform constructed on the cliffs and fynbos covered mountain slopes above the Riviersonderend Gorge. A unique suspension bridge between a narrow sandstone ravine high above a spectacular double waterfall is guaranteed to be one of the most unforgettable highlights of the tour.
The ziplining is a fully guided nature experience with a strong emphasis on client comfort and safety. Two trained guides will accompany each group on the ±4-hour activity. They will provide information about the endemic fynbos and geology of this unique World Heritage Site.
The tour is suitable for almost all ages and will operate in most weather conditions (rain gear is provided).
After completing the ziplining, you will be served a delicious homemade pie & salad before heading off on a scenic drive past Gordon’s Bay and along Clarence Drive. Once you have seen Cape Point across False Bay, we shall head to the cheetah outreach centre.
You will have a choice; at own expense of the Cheetah encounter you prefer. Either spending time with cubs or adults. To calm the excitement of your time with these beautiful big cats we will pop into Triggerfish Brewery close by for a cold drink one or two.

There are so many other wonderful day tours that you can go on with African Moon Adventures – and they offer Full day private tours with an experienced owner operator/registered tourist guide as driver with (Professional Driving Permit) as well as passenger liability for ZAR30 million.
Travel in airconditioned comfort with your own itinerary, or we can help you plan one which will be sure to surprise and delight you all day long!

And last but not least – here is one for the Bucket List!
Once a year African Moon Adventures offers a trip to see another natural wonder of the world (in our humble opinion) – the 4-Day Wild Flower Tour into the Northern Cape!
The opportunity of viewing these beautiful wild flowers in their natural habitat is limited, as they only last for about a month or two. The best time of year to view this spectacle of nature is normally mid-August through to mid-September and definitely a spectacle not to be missed, which is why so many people add this trip to their bucket list well in advance!
This is a beautiful scenic drive through parts of Western and Northern Cape, made even more so during this spectacular showing of nature at its best, with field after field of natural flowers bursting with pride!
This is a 4-day spectacular tour, jam-packed with history of the area and beautiful flowers thriving in their natural habitat – you will even visit the oldest shoe factory in SA, Strassberger’s which was started in 1834 on your drive through the various areas. There is much to see and do, visit the website for more information: https://africanmoonadventures.com/safari-tours/wildflowers/

Diib Reviews by our featured members:

"Diib is a fantastic product for small to medium businesses - the Dashboard allows for great insights across Google analytics, Facebook and Instagram and combines all these analytics into one cohesive whole. This allows business owners to see their daily stats easily, without having to employ a host of staff to update daily. It is simple to set up and once done, all your data shows up in the dashboard. Their team are hugely proficient in SEO, Google search and all reporting and they are even willing to do the work for you, if you are too busy or prefer to focus more of your time on the success of your business overall. Having been in digital marketing for a number of years, I have done searches for the perfect dashboard and decided after much research to use Diib - I will not look back as this is the perfect tool for my travel and tour operator business."
