Helium Exploration at Mhyner Geoconsulting: Unlocking Critical Raw Materials in Central Europe About Mhyner Geoconsulting: Mhyner Geoconsulting is a specialized geological and environmental consulting company with a strong presence in Central Europe. Our expertise spans geothermal energy, groundwater remediation, mineral exploration, and advanced GIS/database support. Alongside our consulting services, we are actively engaged in independent research and exploration projects aimed at supporting sustainable resource development. Our mission is to combine scientific excellence with practical field experience to deliver actionable geoscientific insights. Why Helium Matters: Helium is a critical raw material with a unique set of properties—non-reactive, non-flammable, and with the lowest boiling point of any element. It plays an essential role in medical imaging, electronics, aerospace applications, quantum computing, and scientific research. Global supply shortages, combined with increased demand, have created a growing need for new helium resources—especially from secure and politically stable regions like Europe. Despite its importance, helium remains underexplored in many regions, especially in unconventional settings. Geological Focus: Our primary focus lies in the Pannonian Basin and other sedimentary regions of Central Europe, where we believe the geological potential for helium accumulation is significantly underappreciated. These areas offer a favorable combination of deep basin structures, heat flow, and fault-related gas migration that could indicate the presence of helium-rich systems. Our exploration is not limited to a single basin and remains adaptable to other international opportunities. Methodology and Innovation: What sets Mhyner apart is our integrated, data-driven approach. We utilize: - Soil gas sampling and groundwater analysis to detect helium and supporting gases (e.g., N2, CO2, CH4) - Custom-built gas chromatograph (GC) for precise onsite or lab-based measurements - Multispectral drone surveys to identify structural features and gas migration pathways - GIS-based potential mapping, integrating geological, hydrogeological, and regional emission datasets - Cross-referencing with historical mining and energy data to identify high-value targets This holistic model allows us to generate predictive helium potential maps—prioritizing zones for follow-up field validation. Current Status & Field Work: We are currently conducting active fieldwork across multiple locations in Hungary and neighboring countries. Our efforts include: - In-situ and lab gas measurements from soil and water - Real-time data visualization for partners via web platform (under development) - Structural interpretation using UAV-based imagery and public subsurface data Initial results indicate several zones of interest with elevated helium indicators. These will be validated through more extensive field testing and quantitative modeling. Partnership & Future Outlook: Mhyner is seeking strategic partnerships to expand its helium exploration work. These may include: - Co-development of target areas - Funding of drill-ready prospects - Joint ventures with industry or government stakeholders - Scientific collaboration for cross-validation Our long-term vision includes building a robust prospect portfolio backed by geoscientific evidence and scalable workflows—adaptable to new basins and project types.
