I am a second generation tea entrepreneur coming from Illam, Nepal. I am following the footsteps of my parents who are tea farmers and my brother is a tea artisan/ manufacturer.
In 2021, when my brother told me that, entrepreneurs like him, who don’t have existing sales connections are having a hard time to find tea buyers and it is affecting their ability to remain afloat. I was advised that the condition of small tea artisans around him was the same. When international buyers visit to buy teas from Nepal, they visit handful of tea producers who already have existing business relations through brokers called collectives. I then decided to start a company to represent the underdogs and showcase their tea products in North America.
At Nepal Hills Tea, our mission is to support the youth tea artisans backed by small tea farm holders by showcasing their products and supporting them to get organic certification.
We bring artisanal specialty teas, picked produced and packaged at the source and support the two ends of the tea supply chain. First being the artisans and second being the consumers. We strive to offer our customers best Nepali teas at affordable prices.
We support our artisans by providing trainings on food safety, connecting them with international buyers and by contributing 5% of our annual revenue so that they can start their journey of being organic certified.
What sets us apart from other tea companies is : We offer high quality loose leaf tea products at affordable prices and represent the unrepresented artisans from Nepal. Our goal is to support at least 5-10 tea artisans to get organic certification and showcase their products in North America.
