2 Sisters Crafts and Gifts

2 Sisters Crafts and Gifts was created out of a desire to provide quality handmade products at reasonable prices. We know that handmade items are very popular measured by the proliferation of craft and artisan shows that have popped up across the country and the number of handmade craft sites on websites like Etsy.
Our crafts, crochet, knit, quilting, candlemaking, and wreath making are old crafts meaning they have been around for hundreds of years.
One of our goals is to bring these modalities back around while adding our touch of modern to them with newer materials, designs, and colors. We have added loom knitting to our repertoire, using one of the new loom knitting machines on the market. We make wreaths from the new loop yarn and embellish them to fit the season or the reason.
Although we have been crafting since we were children, our company sprang from an idea we had back in 2012 when retirement was looming and the prospect of more time was on the horizon. We are Debra Bell and Sharon Reid, two sisters who lived in different parts of the country but were bound by our mother’s legacy of art and craft. We have since moved to the small town of Maggie Valley, NC and we do craft shows nearby during “the season”. But we had greater ambitions to bring our craft to the greater populace who may not have a craft show nearby. With the development of a website, we could reach more people.
So let’s talk handmade. Why handmade? There are many reasons people look for and buy handmade. It is personal. Something about that shawl or scarf or hat or quilt speaks to the buyer. The buyer sees some aspect of themselves or the person for which they are buying in that item. It is unique. When we create something we generally will only make one of that item. The buyer will know that what they are buying may not have an equal anywhere. If we make more than one, we usually have seen some aspects that we want to make different. Again, that item is unique. We are proud to say that we don’t mass produce. These are but two aspects of handmade. There are as many reasons as there are customers who buy and crafters who create.
Customization is also part of our craft. Invariably someone who stops by our booth at a craft show will say. I love that shawl but I wish it was in a different color. On our website, we have a place for customers to leave a request for a custom item. “What can we make for you?”
